Welcome to my Substack. I made this, saddened by how much writing I’ve done that hasn’t found a home. They were either on now-defunct publications or on my relatively private Tinyletter. This is an effort to give a home to stories that matter to me, whether they’re about my time in government, travels in Japan, or folks I interviewed within the last 10 years. I guess I’m also taking the opportunity to “remaster” them, now that I know a little better, and have a better handle of how these things land on their readers. I hope you join me. I promise to make your inboxes a little livelier on some days, which is probably as much as we can promise each other in this age.
